For over five decades, Confederation Centre has served Canada as a multifaceted cultural institution, offering a variety of visual and performing arts with a strong focus on educational programming. As a living memorial to the evolution of Canada, CCOA is taking the lead on the redefinition of our national priorities, expressed in particular through arts, culture, and heritage. Dedicated to world-class training in the arts, Steve Bellamy is uniquely qualified to continue to lead the Centre to explore this narrative and support Canadian artists.
“On behalf of the Board Directors and Staff of Confederation Centre, we are very pleased to welcome Steve Bellamy to assume the positon of CEO,” states Wayne Hambly, outgoing Chair, Fathers ofConfederation Buildings Trust. “Steve brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the arts and culture sector, and we are very fortunate to have a person of this caliber lead Confederation Centre into the future. We wish him every success in his new role.”
As the current Dean of the Humber School of Creative & Performing Arts, Bellamy is responsible for the delivery of degree, diploma, and certificate programs in music, creative writing, comedy, acting, production, as well as publishing, music business, and arts administration and cultural management. Bellamy also previously served as Associate Dean of Creative and Performing Arts and Professor ofMusic Production in Humber’s music degree program. As a recording engineer and music producer, he has worked with many leading jazz and classical musicians including Kenny Wheeler, Mike Downes, Kirk MacDonald, Dave Douglas, Anton Kuerti, Gryphon Trio, and Tafelmusik. Before joining Humber College in 2007, he served on the faculties of McGill University, the University of Hartford, and The Banff Centre for the Arts. Steve is especially committed to industry partnership development, Indigenous arts program development, and sustainable business models for the creative industries.

Bellamy is extremely pleased to be returning to PEI with his family. He spent many of his younger years attending school on PEI, including completing his Bachelor of Music at University of Prince Edward Island before going on to complete his Master of Music at McGill University and an Advanced Executive Certificate from Queen’s School of Business. Bellamy will be starting at the Centre October 1, 2018.
Folk powerhouse pair The Small Glories are Cara Luft & JD Edwards, a dynamic duo planted on the Canadian Prairies. A self-professed “study in contrasts,” Luft’s folkie yin proves a perfect match for Edwards’ rocker yang. Thrown together purely by accident for an anniversary show at Winnipeg’s venerable West End Cultural Centre, The Small Glories is a partnership that could almost make you believe in fate.
