Cousins Does Bravado

Rose Cousins Brings BRAVADO to the Mainstage

JUNO-Award winning singer-songwriter is LIVE @ the Centre on March 21

Rose Cousins’ new album went live to the world last month and now she’s bringing the new baby home. The pride of Kensington, P.E.I. is presented by Sobeys LIVE @ the Centre, next Saturday, March 21 at Confederation Centre of the Arts. Visit the box office or for tickets through the Centre’s new online ticket service.

Entitled BRAVADO, Cousins’ fifth studio album came out on Outside Music in February, following the ascension of her first single, ‘The Benefits of Being Alone’ to #1 on CBC Radio’s weekly Top-20.

“I’m really excited about this record and hope that people connect with the songs and see themselves in them,” Cousins remarks, during a stop between national tour dates. “I’m incredibly grateful to make music for a living and can’t wait for our big show at home on March 21.”

The record tackles themes of modern isolation, heartache, social media fatigue, and independence, among others. “My inspiration continues to come from the human condition,” she reflects. “BRAVADO is that disparity between what we show the world and what our true experience is.”

She continues, “I struggle with that like everyone else; that desire to be seen and hide at the same time. We need to look up more often and be in the same room together.”

Audiences will have that chance as Cousins returns to red soil with a much-anticipated hometown show in the Homburg Theatre. “It means everything to play at home; the landscape of my soul is this Island,” she offers. “I walk through the world as an Islander and I really think my sense of collaboration and desire for community comes from growing up in a small and supportive place. We want to see each other succeed.”

The singer says patrons can expect lots of special guests from home and away, including her five-piece band, various local singers and artists, and the Atlantic String Machine. “I’d be so grateful for Islanders to join me at Confed Centre to celebrate together,” she adds.

Rose Cousins is LIVE @ the Centre March 21, with opening act John Paul White (The Civil Wars). Confederation Centre wishes to acknowledge the Department of Canadian Heritage, the Government of P.E.I., and the City of Charlottetown for their continued support.
